Please Note: Monterey is a popular travel destination. There is a large annual event in Monterey the same week as our symposium. Rooms will be hard to find at the conference/government rate after April. The Monterey airport is small and local flights are limited.
Please make your hotel and flight arrangements as soon as possible to ensure best selection and availability. If you’d like to bring a traveling companion and extend your trip a day or two, the conference rate is available with early hotel reservations.

Hotel Location: Located on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula, two blocks from the beach at the intersection of Canyon Del Rey and Del Monte Boulevard. Minutes from 17-Mile Drive and Carmel, just 30 miles north of Big Sur and 40 miles south of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Convenient to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row, and Pebble Beach. Five minutes from the airport.
Hotel Transportation: Shuttle service is available to the Monterey Airport. The hotel is approximately 3 miles from the airport.
Hotel Guest Information: Every suite consists of a private bedroom with one king-size or two full beds, a separate vanity/dressing area and a separate living room with sofa bed and well-lit dining/work table. Security at NPS: We will place your name on the NPS access list during the event. Please present a valid photo/military ID to the guards at the gate. Please have rental car agreements/vehicle registration with you if entering the base unescorted by car.Due to heightened security requirements, TAXIS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON BASE. The driver can drop you at the Main Entrance to NPS.

Clothing – The year round climate of the Monterey Peninsula is characterized by temperatures ranging from 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit (10 to 20 degrees Celsius) during the daytime, and from 10 to 20 degrees (F) cooler at night. Rain may be expected from November through April; it is rare (but not unknown) during the remainder of the year.
Subsistence – Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be included in the registration fee during the Symposium. The Monterey Peninsula area also has many excellent restaurants.
