Important Dates to Remember:

  1. March 14, 2008registration deadline. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so at this site to maintain your place on the program.
  2. April 4, 2008 – submission deadline for final papers.  Completed papers submitted by this date will be included in the Symposium Proceedings (to be distributed at the event).
  3. April 4, 2008 – Hotel Conference Rate cut-off date. After this point, hotel rates will return to standard rates. Please note we are completing with other popular events in Monterey and hotel availability will be limited.
  4. May 9, 2008 – submission deadline for power point presentation slides. Upload site information to be provided. Bring back-up on flash drive or CD.


Author Checklist for Completed Papers:

Submit papers as MS Word attachments via e-mail to Karey Shaffer (klshaffe@nps.edu) by April 4, 2008.

As long as you follow the guidelines below, our team will take care of formatting, fonts, etc.

  1. Paper no more than 20 pages single spaced.
  2. All text items are in one file (no separate files for biographical paragraph, abstract, references, tables, etc.).
  3. Figures are embedded in the article.
  4. Everything is single spaced: text, abstract, biographical paragraph, endnotes, author’s note/acknowledgments, references, block quotations, appendices, tables.
  5. Everything is left justified, with a ragged right-hand margin (no full justification).
  6. Title page includes all authors’ names, addresses, phone numbers (work and home), fax numbers, email addresses, and any other pertinent contact information.
  7. Abstract is 200 words or less.
  8. Biographical information is included for each author (100 words or less).
  9. There are no endnotes.  Footnote where needed.
  10. All in-text citations are included in the reference list; all references have in-text citations.
  11. Reference list follows APA style.
  12. Written, signed permission for copyrighted material has been obtained where necessary.
